New Shipper Overview

New Shipper Overview

Shippers are used in conjunction with ship methods if you want to allow buyer users the ability to select a shipper while they are ordering.  Shippers can be set to not have any rates, to have rates that are manually created, or to use third party rates (Actual Rates).

Creating a new shipper will include various configuration settings and possibly setting price breaks if you are creating your own rates.

Configuration Settings:

1) Shipper Name: The name of the shipper will appear to the buyer user in the shipper drop-down on the Shipping page of the Buyer interface when he is submitting an order.
2) Rates: There are three different options for rates:
3) Based on: This drop-down can only be used if the “Use my rates” rate option was chosen.
4) Lead Time (days): This value will be used in calculating the shipper when the ship method is set to let the system select the cheapest shipper. Users will not be able to select a shipper whose lead time is greater than the variance between current date and date needed. This is not supported when using Actual Rates Shippers.
5) Pass shipper name with order: This setting will show or hide the shipper on orders if enabled or disabled (respectively).
6) Price Schedule section: If “Use my rates” is selected as the rate type, then this section will appear. This section allows the creation of price breaks that will be used to calculate the shipping amount of an order.
