Product Variable Specs
Variable specs can be added to any product to allow your customer to provide you with additional information that you will need in order to correctly produce the product they need.
You can add variable specs on any static product, adding them either during the creation of the product or after you have finished the product setup. They can be created in one of three ways: Text, Selection or File.
Here is some information regarding each of the three types:
1. Text: This option will produce a text form in which you can allow the customer to freely enter specific information such as a name or title.
2. Selection: This option will produce a drop-down selection or radio buttons so that your customer can choose from pre-determined options.
Variable specs are not required, nor are you limited to using just one. You may use several variable specs if needed.

- You may make the spec required.
- You may add a prefix which is text that appears before the variable spec.
- You may add a suffix which is text that appears after the variable spec.
- You may add a default value.
- You may determine the number of lines that appear to the customer.
- You may determine the field’s width based on a number of pixels.
- You may determine the max length or max amount of characters a user may enter into the field.
2. Selection: This option will produce a drop-down selection or radio buttons so that your customer can choose from pre-determined options.
- You may make the spec required.
- You may add a prefix which is text that appears before the variable spec.
- You may add a suffix which is text that appears after the variable spec.
- You can charge an extra fee to you customer based on the options they select.
- After entering all desired options, click the “Add” link.
- You may make the spec required.
- You will determine the type of file you want.
- You will provide instructions to your customer.
- You may upload a default file that the customer may replace if they choose.
Variable specs are not required, nor are you limited to using just one. You may use several variable specs if needed.
