This article outlines the process for requesting the export of an Azure SQL database to a storage account. 

How to submit a request

To request the export of a Sitecore Managed Cloud SQL Database, submit the Azure SQL Database Export to storage account service request through the Sitecore Support Portal. Refer to KB0654910 for more details.


Include the following parameters in the request form: 

• Timezone
• Account
• Slot
• SQL Server: is the name of the SQL server you would like to export the database from.
• SQL Server Username: is the SQL server admin username.
• SQL Server Password: is used for the SQL server admin password.
• Database Name(s): put here the SQL database name you want to export or a list of databases separated by a space or a coma.
• Storage account name: is the name of the Azure storage account that will be used to store the exported database file. The storage needs to be in the same subscription. If the storage name is not provided a new storage account will be created.

Once the request has been submitted and all the provided data has been validated, the export process will initiate immediately. Upon completion, a BACPAC file will be generated and stored in the Azure Storage Account container. The duration of the export operation depends on the size of the database and is managed by Microsoft. As such, no precise time estimate can be provided.
