Microsoft ends support for .NET 6 on November 12, 2024.

It affects the following modules:

• Sitecore Identity Server 7.x module, compatible with Sitecore Experience Platform releases 9.1 - 9.3 and 10.x.
• Sitecore Publishing Service 7.0, compatible with Sitecore Experience Platform releases 9.1 - 10.4, by installing the release-specific Sitecore Publishing Service Module.

Sitecore is developing new versions that support .NET 8 for the affected products, with the availability aligned to the timelines specified below. We will update this article as new releases become available.

Solution

• Sitecore targets delivery of new Sitecore Identity Server module version 8.0 that supports .NET 8, in mid February, 2025.
  Deploying the new version will require minor modifications to security database tables. The release will include a database upgrade script and deployment instructions similar to the previous Identity Server 7 Upgrade Guide.
• Sitecore also targets the delivery of new Sitecore Publishing Service 8.0 that supports .NET 8, in April, 2025.
  No significant breaking changes are expected, as compared to version SPS 7.0.

We recommend that you plan to deploy these new releases when practical.

If a .NET 6 vulnerability is detected prior to these new releases, Sitecore will work on these vulnerabilities with the highest priority. The exact resolution will depend on the applicability and nature of the vulnerability.
