Description

When requesting an item with a link or image field using the Delivery API endpoint, the jsonValue property might return a raw value of the field, which is an unparsed XML. The issue occurs if the requested item does not belong to any site (is not under the Home item in the content tree).

Solution

To resolve the issue, consider one of the following options:

• For Sitecore XP 10.3 and Sitecore Headless Rendering 21, download and install the cumulative hotfixes for the Experience Edge Connector module that are available in KB1003184.
• For Sitecore XP 10.2 and Sitecore Headless Rendering 20, download and install the cumulative hotfixes for the Experience Edge Connector module that are available in KB1003202.
• Relocate the item so that it belongs to the site. For example, change the content structure from:

  sitecore
  -content
  --home
  --data
  ---affected item

  to:

  sitecore
  -content
  --home
  ---data
  ----affected item

• Create a new site definition so that the affected item belongs to the site. This can be a regular site defined in the configuration or an SXA site. Set the start item that points to the folder in which the affected item is located, for example: /sitecore/content/data. When using SXA, you can also make sure that the site is active only for the CM instance by applying the Valid for environment configuration option.
