Description

The following table summarizes all the Azure Regions and describes whether they have the default PaaS 2.0 services required by Sitecore XM/XP when running in Azure.

* Sitecore Managed Cloud PaaS 2.0 includes the provision of Availability Zones on the Content Delivery Nodes (CD) by default. However, not all Microsoft Regions benefit from this service in all Azure Regions. Microsoft maintains the list of supported Azure Regions with Available Zones here.

Alternatives For The Default PaaS Services

Not all PaaS services are available in all regions, but you can swap out any of the default PaaS services for alternative SKUs available within your preferred Azure Region.

• Web Apps:
  • Alternative Azure App Service SKUs should be selected where the Sitecore recommended Azure App Service SKU is not available within your desired Azure Region.
• Application Insights:
  • Do not rule out the use of Application Insights just because it is not listed in your desired data center. The region you choose for Application Insights is the end storage location for your Sitecore telemetry. Choosing a region for Application Insights that is different from the rest of your deployment does not cause performance issues or result in additional data transfer costs.
  • For logging, an alternate approach is to use log4Net options, such as a database or Azure Table/Blob storage.
  • Alternatively, you can log on to Log Analytics.

• [1] Note that this is a standalone region and as such there is no Microsoft Pair Region support.
• [2] If the Provisioning is restricted in this region an error occurs, choose a different region.
• [3] Whilst Azure Search is available for use with Sitecore ARM templates, the use of Azure Search is not supported in combination with Sitecore Managed Cloud – PaaS 2.0 (v10.3.1 and later).
• [4] Region does not support Azure Availability Zones. PaaS 2.0 includes Azure Availability Zones for Content Delivery Nodes, therefore if you choose to deploy to this region, Azure Availability Zones will not be enabled on your Content Delivery Nodes – see MSFT Documentation for further details - here.
• [5] Future Region for Sitecore Managed Cloud. Check with your aligned Sitecore contacts for further details relating to the availability of this region.
