Description

Marketing Automation work items being stuck in the processing pool might cause the following error in the log records:

 [Error] An exception occurred during processing for worker 'de32a072-24f8-472d-bb0b-acc7f07df187'
System.AggregateException: One or more errors occurred. ---> Sitecore.XConnect.Serialization.XdbSerializationException: Unknown type 'Sitecore.ContentTesting.Model.xConnect.PersonalizationEvent'
   at Sitecore.XConnect.Serialization.XObjectReader.ReadXObject(XdbType expectedType)
   at Sitecore.XConnect.Client.Serialization.XObjectJsonConverter.ReadJson(JsonReader reader, Type objectType, Object existingValue, JsonSerializer serializer)

Solution

To resolve the issue, consider one of the following options:

• Upgrade Sitecore XP instance to Sitecore XP 9.1.0 or later.
• For Sitecore XP 9.0.2 download and install the hotfix: SC Hotfix 287600-1 MarketingAutomation.Engine.App 2.0.1 MarketingAutomation.SqlServer 1.0.2.zip

  Be aware that the hotfix was built for a specific Sitecore XP version and must not be installed on other Sitecore XP versions or in combination with other hotfixes. In case any other hotfixes have already been installed on a certain Sitecore XP instance, send a request for a compatibility check to Sitecore Support.

  Note that the ZIP file contents must be extracted to locate installation instructions and related files inside. The hotfixes must be installed on a CM instance and then synced with other instances using standard development practices.

• For Sitecore XP 9.0.1, if running a standalone xConnect deployment:
  
  1. Download and install the hotfix: SC Hotfix 311036-2.zip

     Be aware that the hotfix was built for a specific Sitecore XP version and must not be installed on other Sitecore XP versions or in combination with other hotfixes. In case any other hotfixes have already been installed on a certain Sitecore XP instance, send a request for a compatibility check to Sitecore Support.

     Note that the ZIP file contents must be extracted to locate installation instructions and related files inside. The hotfixes must be installed on a CM instance and then synced with other instances using standard development practices.

  2. Enable \App_data\config\sitecore\Collection\sc.XConnect.Collection.Initialize.xml file.
• For Sitecore XP 9.0.1, if running a scaled xConnect deployment:
  Ensure the xConnect collection role is enabled on the Marketing Automation Operations server and Marketing Automation Reporting server.
  
  1. On each server, rename the \App_data\Config\sitecore\Collection\sc.XConnect.Collection.Initialize.xml.disabled file by removing the .disabled extension. As a result, name the file: sc.XConnect.Collection.Initialize.xml.
  2. On each server, add the following connection strings which can be sourced from the xConnect collection server:
     
     1. collection
     2. xdb.processing.pools
