Description

Password field raw values might get overwritten with dots when saving changes in the Content Editor after the pop-up with the following warning message has appeared:

Do you want to save the changes to the item?

This pop-up appears in the following scenarios:

• When navigating from the item that has a Password field to another item in the content tree.
• When selecting the Raw values check box while working on the item that has a Password field.

Solution

To resolve the issue, use another field type to store a password, for example, the Single-Line Text field.

Note: Using the Security Editor, you can deny the Field Read access rights to individual users or roles that are not allowed to view a specific field. The Field Read access rights can be assigned for the fields of a Template.
