Description

A JSS website might fail to load after the web application restart with the following error in the logs:

Exception: System.IndexOutOfRangeException
Message: Index was outside the bounds of the array.
Source: mscorlib
   at System.Collections.Generic.List`1.Contains(T item)
   at System.Linq.Enumerable.Contains[TSource](IEnumerable`1 source, TSource value)
   at Sitecore.LayoutService.Extensions.RenderingExtensions.IsSerializable(Rendering rendering, IEnumerable`1 serializableRenderingTypes)
   at Sitecore.LayoutService.Pipelines.GetRenderer.GetJsonRenderer.Process(GetRendererArgs args)

The issue affects JSS 11.0.0–13.2.2 versions.

Solution

To resolve the issue, download and install the hotfix compatible with the affected product version:

• For Sitecore XP 9.0.2 and JSS 11.0.0: SC Hotfix-430457-1 Layout Service 4.0.1.zip
• For Sitecore XP 9.1.0 and JSS 11.0.0: SC Hotfix 439140-1 Layout Service 4.0.2.zip
• For Sitecore XP 9.1.1 and JSS 11.0.1: SC Hotfix-404148-1 Layout Service 4.0.3.zip
• For Sitecore XP 9.2 and JSS 12.0.0: SC Hotfix 512632-1 Layout Service 5.0.0.zip
• For Sitecore XP 9.3 and JSS 13.0.0: SC Hotfix 439462-1 Layout Service 5.0.0.zip

Be aware that the hotfixes were built for the specific Sitecore XP and JSS versions and must not be installed on other Sitecore XP and JSS versions or in combination with other hotfixes. In case any other hotfixes have already been installed on a certain Sitecore XP instance, send a request for a compatibility check to Sitecore Support.

Note that the ZIP file contents must be extracted to locate installation instructions and related files inside. The hotfix must be installed on a CM instance and then synced with other instances using standard development practices.
