Overview

This article describes the compatibility of different Sitecore XP versions with the xDB Cloud service, and provides information about the following:

• Compatibility for Creating New xDB Cloud Sets
• Compatibility for Upgrading Existing xDB Cloud Sets
• Compatible xDB Cloud Client Versions
• Compatible Data Center Locations
• Compatible MongoDB versions
• Compatible Sitecore Modules

Compatibility For Creating New XDB Cloud Sets

The following table shows the currently supported Sitecore XP releases that you can use to initialize new xDB Cloud sets:

Important:

• All new xDB Cloud sets are created using xDB Cloud 2.0. For more information, please see doc.sitecore.net.
• For xDB Cloud to work properly, the Content Delivery and Content Management instances version must exactly match the xDB Cloud version.
• This section describes Sitecore XP versions available for creating new xDB Cloud sets. For the list of available target versions for upgrading xDB Cloud, see the next section in this article.
• Managed Cloud xDB service can be used with Sitecore XP 9.0 and above.

Compatibility For Upgrading Existing XDB Cloud Sets

The following table shows the supported upgrade options for xDB Cloud sets. When planning an upgrade, ensure that you upgrade to a compatible target version of Sitecore XP:

Compatible XDB Cloud Client Versions

To ensure a stable connection to xDB Cloud, the latest compatible updates of the xDB Cloud Client package must be installed on all Sitecore Content Delivery (CD) and Content Management (CM) instances. Refer to the following tables for compatibility information:

For xDB Cloud 1.0:

Note: xDB Cloud 2.0 is only supported for new xDB sets that are provisioned using a corresponding Sitecore XP version. You can migrate existing xDB Cloud 1.0 sets to xDB Cloud 2.0 on demand using the following process: KB0274380.

New xDB Cloud sets can be provisioned in the following geographical locations:

Compatible MongoDB Versions

xDB Cloud Service is compatible with different MongoDB releases based on the Sitecore XP version that you use with it. For information about Sitecore XP and Mongo compatibility, refer to KB0633863.

The following table shows the available MongoDB software versions in xDB Cloud service:

Note: This table only highlights the availability of major MongoDB releases. Specific minor releases can vary, but Sitecore always ensures full compatibilty of any minor release with Sitecore XP.

Notes

• All module versions or components assume compatibility with the appropriate CMS/XP version. For specific details, refer to Sitecore Modules Compatibility table.
• [1] Custom segment creation is not supported by Experience Analytics in the xDB Cloud service. This will be fixed in a future service update.
• [2] The Path Analyzer does not currently support the admin page (/sitecore/admin/pathanalyzer.aspx) or standard historical rebuild with the xDB Cloud service. This will be fixed in a future Sitecore XP release.
