Description

Sitecore uses an Adobe Flash component for uploading media files when the Upload.Classic setting is set to "false".

This Flash component utilizes an open-source Yahoo uploader that has some limitations:

• Because of Flash limitations, the uploader does not support basic authentication.
• Because of Flash limitations, the uploader behavior when working through a proxy server is inconsistent and unreliable.
• When uploading to HTTPS servers, be aware that Flash does not support self-signed certificates. You would need to obtain certificates from a recognized certificate authority.

In addition to these limitations, the upload process may fail with the error message "One or more files could not be uploaded" when you try to upload media files using Safari, Chrome, or Firefox.

Solution

If you have a requirement to use basic authentication, upload through a proxy server or use non-IE browsers for uploading media, you will need to use the "classic" HTML-based upload dialog instead of the Flash uploader. This is done by switching the Upload.Classic config setting value to "true".

If you have a requirement to upload to HTTPS servers, make sure you obtain certificates from a recognized certificate authority.
