Description

When adding a sublayout to the presentation setting for an item via Experience Editor, the following errors may occur:

1. "An error occurred" popup message appears.
2. A JavaScript error is shown in the browser console:

   Could not find the rendering in the HTML loaded from server

The issue occurs when trying to add a sublayout right after another sublayout or rendering that does not have a placeholder specified in the presentation details.

Solution

To address the issue, apply one of the solutions below:

• Always specify placeholder name for all presentation elements.
• Upgrade website to Sitecore XP 8.0 rev. 150427 (Update-3) or newer, where this issue has been fixed.
• Apply the patch as described below:
  1. Put an Sitecore.Support.380995.v*.dll assembly into the \bin folder;
  2. Put Siteocre.Support.380995.v*.config file into the \App_Config\Include folder.

  Appropriate files can be retrieved from an archive, depending on the Sitecore version:

  • Sitecore CMS 6.5 - 6.6: Sitecore.Support.380995.v1.zip
  • Sitecore CMS 7.0 - 7.5: Sitecore.Support.380995.v2.zip
  • Sitecore XP 8.0: Sitecore.Support.380995.v3.zip
