Description

Sitecore customers can request a backup of their Managed Cloud resources (SQL databases and Azure App services) by filling out the forms in the following sections and then submitting a new request using https://support.sitecore.net.

Azure App Service Backup Schedule Request Form

Parameter	Description	Value
Resources to backup	List of Web Apps
Desired Backup Frequency	How often a new full backup copy should be taken (for example, every 2 weeks)
Desired Backup Retention	Number of days/months to keep each single backup copy (for example, 180 days / 6 months)
Backup Storage	New / Existing (specify name if existing)
Backup Storage Capabilities	If New storage, specify desired level of redundancy (for example, the same datacenter, or multiple or geo-distributed datacenters)
Files to Exclude	Files from the web root that should not be part of a regular backup (for example, known temp files)

 

Azure SQL Database Backup Schedule Request Form

Backup Storage Capabilities	Specify desired level of redundancy (for example, the same datacenter, or multiple or geo-distributed datacenters)

 

Notes

• Sitecore will only perform a backup as described in the request forms for the Azure App Services and SQL databases.
• The customer is responsible to do backup and recovery for other resources, such as Redis Cache.
• Any backup recovery operation for the Azure App Services and SQL databases can be triggered either by the customer or Sitecore by submitting a service request on the Sitecore Support Portal. After the backup recovery has been done, the customer is responsible to do any post configuration and/or cleanup. Therefore, the customer must ensure the integrity of the restored data. We recommend that customers regularly test restoration as a part of normal business continuity planning.

• The main Production CD and CM role backups are created automatically once per day with 7-day retention.
