EXM Delivery Cloud misidentifies emails as spoofed

Description

In most cases, customers who use EXM Delivery Cloud do not need to upload their SPF record to verify sending IP addresses. However, there exist scenarios where IP addresses see hard bounces in the campaigns sent.

The most common scenario is when a customer sends emails to their own domain and uses email security gateways that have anti-spoofing features enabled. In this situation, the email security gateway can misidentify the emails as spoofed due to their source.

Solution

To resolve the issue, proceed as follows:

  1. Configure the email security gateway's anti-spoofing features to use SPF records as a whitelist.
  2. Set up an SPF record in EXM.
  3. Apply the common domain used to send emails.
