Description
In Sitecore XP 8.0 and later, country flags are not displayed when selecting the content language in both the Content Editor and the Experience Editor. The use of political flags in the UI was excluded in accordance with Microsoft best practices recommendations ("Avoid Political Symbols"). It is only possible to determine the selected language by its name.
Notes
After removing the flags, there can be difficulties with recognizing the languages in the Content Editor or the Experience Editor. You can apply the following fix to make the language names more informative:
- For Sitecore XP 8.0.0–8.0.6, download and install the patch found on this page: https://github.com/SitecoreSupport/Sitecore.Support.50033.95987/releases/tag/8.0.0.1.
- For Sitecore XP 8.1.0–8.2.0, download and install the patch found on this page: https://github.com/SitecoreSupport/Sitecore.Support.50033.95987/releases/tag/8.1.0.1.
