Description

Sitecore Experience Commence logs might not be shown in Application Insights in Azure portal. However, the rest of Sitecore's web apps are normally logged to Application Insights.

The following error is found in logs every time the application starts:

See the inner exception for more details. ---> System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.ApplicationInsights.StartupBootstrapper' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Solution

To resolve the issue, consider the following options:

• Add a package reference to Microsoft.AspNetCore.AzureAppServicesIntegration with the same major-minor version as ASP.NET Core (2.1).
• Add the following line in your Program.cs file. Note that the Program.cs file is located in the Sitecore.Commerce.Engine Visual Studio project from the Sitecore.Commerce.Engine.SDK  folder.
