Analytics architecture optimization


Description

The following issues related to xDB, Email Experience Manager (EXM) and List Manager can occur in a scaled environment under high load conditions:

  1. EXM and xDB reporting systems show incorrect statistics.
  2. EXM does not process email messages or processes them incorrectly.
  3. xDB data processing is delayed.
  4. Reporting database rebuilding is slow.
  5. The List Manager continuously shows the Please note that this list is currently being built and is locked message.
  6. The list importing process is slow.

Sitecore provides hotfixes for the issues mentioned. Follow the instructions below to apply the hotfix to your solution.

Prerequisites

For XP 8.1 Initial Release (Rev. 151003)

Upgrade to Sitecore XP 8.1 Update-3 (rev. 160519).

For XP 8.1 Update-1 (Rev. 151207)

We strongly recommend upgrading to Sitecore XP 8.1 Update-3 (rev. 160519). If you are experiencing the mentioned problems and cannot upgrade, apply the following hotfix to address the issue:

For XP 8.1 Update-2 (Rev. 160302)

Upgrade to Sitecore XP 8.1 Update-3 (rev. 160519).

For XP 8.1 Update-3 (Rev. 160519) / EXM 3.3 Initial Release

Apply both of the following hotfixes to address the issue:

  2. Package:- SC Hotfix 161908-1 List Manager 1.1.3 Email Experience Manager 3.3.0.zip

Note: Install the EXM hotfix after the CMS hotfix.

For XP 8.2 Initial Release (Rev. 160729) / EXM 3.4 Initial Release

Apply both of the following hotfixes to address the issue:

Note: Install the EXM hotfix after the CMS hotfix.

For XP 8.2 Update-1 (Rev. 161115) / EXM 3.4 Initial Release

Upgrade to Sitecore XP 8.2 Update-2 (rev. 161221) and EXM 3.4 Update-1.

For XP 8.2 Update-2 (Rev. 161221) / EXM 3.4 Update-1

The issues mentioned above were fixed in Sitecore XP 8.2 Update-2 and EXM 3.4 Update-1. For more details, check the release notes:

Post-Installation Steps

If an out-of-process session state provider is used, do the following:

  1. Stop all Sitecore XP instances sharing the same Session database.
  2. If MongoDB session state provider is used, drop the Session database.
  3. If SQL Server session state provider is used, replace the Session database with a clean one from the Sitecore XP installation package.
  4. Start Sitecore XP instances.
