Description

Sitecore provides the General Link with Search field type, that you can use to search for items and to create links to them.

This field type, however, does not currently let you configure template filtering for the field values.

Solution

To enable template filtering for the General Link with Search field type:

1. Copy the Sitecore.Support.401475.dll assembly to the /bin folder of the website.
2. Copy the FieldResults.aspx file to the /sitecore/shell/Applications/Buckets folder of the website.

Note: The solution only works for Sitecore CMS 7.0 Update-3 and later.

Performing these steps allows you to specify a search filter as the source value for the General Link with Search field type, for example:

StartSearchLocation=<GUID>&TemplateFilter=<GUID>&Filter=text:value
