Description

After trying to launch FXM on a Sitecore XP instance with the EXM module installed, the spinner animation might remain displayed indefinitely, and the browser console might show the following error:

"Uncaught Failed to data-bind: ProgressIndicator TypeError: Cannot read property 'attributes' of undefined" sitecore-1.0.2.js:2902

This issue affects the Federated Experience Manager in Sitecore XP 8.1 Update-3 - 8.2 Initial Release.

Solution

To resolve the issue, consider one of the following options:

• Upgrade a Sitecore XP instance to Sitecore XP 8.2.1 or later (recommended).
• Download and install the hotfix compatible with the affected product version:
  • For Sitecore XP 8.1.3: Sitecore CMS 8.1 rev. 160519 Hotfix 119569-1.zip
  • For Sitecore XP 8.2.0: SC Hotfix 360553-1 Sitecore.FXM 2.2.0.zip

Be aware that the hotfixes were built for the specific Sitecore XP versions and must not be installed on other Sitecore XP versions or in combination with other hotfixes that modify Sitecore assemblies. In case any other hotfixes have already been installed on a certain Sitecore XP instance, send a request for a compatibility check to Sitecore Support.

Note that the ZIP file contents must be extracted to locate installation instructions and related files inside. The hotfix must be installed on a CM instance and then synced with other instances using standard development practices.
